All lanes of southbound Highway 85 reopened around 11 a.m. today following a roll-over accident that seriously injured one, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety requested emergency crews close portions of southbound Highway 85 near Homestead Road at 10 a.m. following the commute-time crash.
Crews requested a helicopter to take one injured person to the hospital, according to CHP dispatchers.
Officials from Sunnyvale and Mountain View responded to a roll-over crash in the area, Sunnyvale spokesman John Pilger said.
Witnesses first reported a three-car crash on southbound 85 near Fremont and Homestead roads around 9:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Officers diverted southbound traffic off the freeway at Fremont Avenue, according to CHP officer Scott Cakebread.
People at the scene of the crash told CHP dispatchers that a woman appeared to be trapped in a white Ford Explorer that was involved in the crash.
It is unclear whether her injuries were life-threatening.
----*** So Jarom was on his way to school and when he was getting on to the hwy a red x-terra passed him anxious to get to where ever he was going. (Jarom hearing my vice in his head saying "try to keep the RPM's down when you excelerate so we save gas money") then right in front of him he see's a blue car change their mind and try to take an exit that they were almost past. then spinning out of controll they hit the red x-terra and a white suv tries to stay out of the way and it swerves and flips over. the white suv Rolls accross the hwy. Jarom stops the car and runs to the whit suv and see's that this woman needs help. he cuts the seat belt loose because she couldn't breathe.....see's that her arm is spurting because her arm has almost been amputated from the crash. He finds some cloth and ties off her arm to reduse the bleading. then the emergency crew comes on sight and takes over. While he was helping the lady he cut him self on some glass. The emergency crew then cleaned him up and get his information. I LOVE our emergency people. (and the people that work to serve the [north] american people)***---- anyways we are trying to find out what happend to that lady. when we find out we'll let you know!
Love you all! Michelle
